With the holiday season upon us, there’s an opportunity to create meaningful events that members will remember fondly. These event ideas are designed with creativity and inclusivity in mind, allowing city clubs, country clubs, and golf clubs alike to spread holiday cheer.
Festive Family-Friendly Events
Festive Family-Friendly Events
- Holiday Drive-In Movie Night
Transform your club’s parking lot or lawn into a classic drive-in, where families can “park” with cozy seating. Hand out mini “movie tickets” at entry, serve themed snacks (like popcorn in holiday tins or candy canes), and play holiday trivia with small prizes before the movie starts. - Club-Wide Elf on the Shelf Adventure
Have a mischievous holiday elf (or several!) hidden around the club throughout December. Each week, share clues on social media or in club newsletters. Families who find the elf get a festive token or ticket to enter a grand prize drawing at the end of the month. - Family Holiday Baking Competition
Host a friendly bake-off where families compete to create the best holiday cookie. Provide decorating kits and have judges on hand (or allow families to vote for their favorite). Offer categories like “Most Festive,” “Best Design,” and “Most Creative Flavor.” - 4. Holidays Around the World Cultural Evening
Feature holiday traditions from different cultures with food, music, and decor.
Adults-Only Gatherings
- Holiday Wine Tasting with a Blind Taste Test Twist
Hold a blind wine-tasting event with seasonal selections. Challenge members to guess the type, region, or year, with prizes for those who get the most correct. Offer holiday-themed charcuterie boards and let members vote on the best pairing of the night. - Christmas Carol Speakeasy
Transform a club room into a “hidden” speakeasy for a night of holiday cheer. Serve Prohibition-inspired cocktails with a holiday twist and invite a live jazz band to play jazzed-up carols. The entry password could be a holiday riddle members solve in advance. - Guided Winter Solstice Star-Gazing
Combine your Winter Solstice bonfire with an evening of guided star-gazing. Invite an astronomer to point out winter constellations, share stories of ancient solstice traditions, and provide telescopes for members to explore the night sky. - Holiday Stand-Up Comedy Night
Bring in a comedian or host a holiday-themed stand-up night for members to laugh at all the “joys” of the season. Offer spiked hot chocolate and a dessert bar with holiday-themed treats.
Kids-Only Events
- Candy Cane Olympics
Set up fun holiday “Olympic” events, such as a candy cane relay race, holiday sack race, and a marshmallow toss. Kids earn candy canes as rewards, and winners get holiday medals or trophies. - Holiday Detective Mystery Adventure
Create a mini detective experience where kids solve the mystery of “Who Stole Santa’s Cookies?” They’ll follow clues around the club, interview “witnesses” (staff dressed as holiday characters), and collect evidence to solve the case. - Reindeer Boot Camp
Kids join Santa’s “reindeer team” and go through playful training stations, like hopping in “snowbanks” (cotton piles), running obstacle courses, and a sleigh-pulling race. At the end, they receive honorary reindeer antlers and a certificate from Santa. - Santa’s Secret Workshop
Create a kids-only workshop where they can make holiday gifts for their parents. Set up craft stations for gifts like decorated mugs, hand-painted ornaments, or framed drawings. Wrap them up with help from club “elves” so kids can surprise their families.
